Julia Coburn is returning to CBRCanada as the Membership Engagement and Event Coordinator, previously the CBRCanada Program Coordinator. Prior to CBRCanada, Julia was the Co-Founder and Executive Director of WorldVuze, a global discussion platform for K-12 students around the world to safely share perspectives. As part of WorldVuze, Julia led multiple national social action challenges for children and youth, including UNICEF Canada’s “Better than Before” campaign, Kids Help Phone’s “Bullying Awareness and Prevention” campaign, and the “Next 150/Les Prochaines 150 Années” campaign supported by Canadian Heritage. She also worked in partnership with The Critical Thinking Consortium to develop and facilitate professional development training for teachers to use WorldVuze to help students foster global competency skills.

Julia also had the honour to co-found and work collaboratively for over seven years with Cross Community Connect (CCC), a Tanzanian non-profit focused on community-led solutions to social challenges. Led by Shadrach Meschach, himself from the Kigoma Region in Tanzania, Cross Community Connect has provided entrepreneurship training for community members in Uvinza and Kazurimimba villages, female leadership workshops for both young women and young men, and skill development training in computer literacy and tailoring.

Julia has her Master of Environmental Studies in Urban Planning and Bachelor of Science in Biological Anthropology, Political Science and Linguistics.
