Jacinthe Poisson

Jacinthe works as a development officer at the Service aux collectivités of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). In this role, she supports and assists numerous community organizations in carrying out research, training, and expertise projects with academic partners. She previously worked for several years coordinating community-based research projects and partnership mobilization for the Observatoire des profilages. Trained in international relations (BRIDI, UQAM) and in law (B.C.L./J.D. McGill), she has also worked in a community legal clinic for people experiencing homelessness, and then as part of the legal team of the Viens Commission, the Public Inquiry Commission on relations between Indigenous Peoples and certain public services in Quebec, where she contributed to documenting issues of systemic discrimination and colonialism within police and justice services. Always involved with numerous community organizations, she is passionate about the intersections between research, social and environmental justice, and advocacy for rights.
