Karen Schwartz, PhD, is the Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Affairs for the Faculty of Public Affairs and an associate professor in the School of Social Work at Carleton University. Her areas of practice and research involve community engaged scholarship, field education, mental health and social work pedagogy. She teaches a research course that requires students to engage in community based research and is a co-investigator on a SSHRC funded grant exploring the benefits to the community from campus engagement. She has co-authored the book Research For Social Justice: A Community Based Approach.
