Her current PhD research focuses on the ways in which women’s everyday decolonial actions contribute to wider processes of liberation/decolonization both locally and globally. Previously, her Master’s study focused on feminist rights-based intergenerational leadership in the Solomon Islands. Former Executive Director of the Canadian Women’s Economic Council and former Vice President of the World YWCA, Jess is Co-Founder of IGNITE Global Feminist Collective which brings together academics and activists from around the world to amplify our contributions to decolonization and “justice.” She also volunteers with YWCA Canada on the Reconciliation Action Committee.
